Mithrakulam Charitable Trust is a registered non-profit organization (Reg. 131/IV/2021) based in Ernakulam, Kerala. Mithrakulam operates as a supportive commune dedicated to uplifting marginalized voices, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities. We stand apart from traditional NGO frameworks through our strict no-donation philosophy. We believe that true, sustainable empowerment comes from within the community. Instead of seeking direct financial charity, our operations are sustained entirely through strategic CSR collaborations, resource optimization, and the collective strength of our local members.

By fostering a safe, collaborative space, we champion social justice and healthy, cooperative growth across Kerala.

Building Decentralized Independence

Our goal is to create self-reliant communities through decentralized and shared resources. By partnering closely with local governing bodies and corporate sponsors, we facilitate ecosystems where individuals can learn, create, and support one another. We replace the traditional charity model with an active framework of doing, learning, and reflecting—ensuring every initiative creates long-term, structural benefits for the community.

Mithrakulam Commune

At the center of our work is the Mithrakulam Commune, an inclusive living space where members learn, grow, and support one another. It is a home for those facing crisis—be it from family rejection, social exclusion, or economic hardship. Within this safe and nurturing environment, which has a zero-tolerance policy for substance abuse, members find not just shelter, but a family. Here, they participate in skill-building workshops, contribute to our social enterprises, and become mentors to others, creating a virtuous cycle of empowerment.

A Governance Model Built on Equality

To ensure our leadership reflects the community we serve, Mithrakulam has adopted a revolutionary governance structure. Our board of trustees is a testament to our commitment to inclusion,

Persons with Disabilities

This structure is not symbolic; it is functional. It ensures that our strategies and programs are co-created with, and not just for, the people we aim to serve.

Partnership and Practice, Not Charity

Mithrakulam Charitable Trust strictly does not accept direct monetary donations from individuals. We sustain our mission by shifting the focus from dependency to active partnership, relying entirely on the optimization of shared community resources and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) collaborations.

This cooperative model directly fuels our practical projects. Instead of traditional charity, we build self-reliance through specialized emergency response training, decentralized industry workshops, active material resource banks, and cooperative living programs. Every project is designed to build structural, long-lasting resilience.
